Aims of the SLI
From the end of the Summer Semester 2004 the newly established Sprachlehrinstitut (SLI) will be responsible for the organisation and planning of all language courses in the philological and philosophical faculties for students from all faculties (AF).
This involves some important changes. (See below for details of obligatory registration, fee paying for language courses and language tests , and an explanation of the various types of courses offered.).

The main aims of the new organisation of the language courses in the SLI are:
- To offer you a new, more attractive range of courses
(e.g. intensive courses in the vacation period between the normal scheduled lectures and a variety of courses and levels with various focuses) - To standardise teaching policy and safeguard standards of quality across all languages and levels offered
- To guarantee uniform, internationally recognised certification according to the European Framework of Reference (A1 C2), and especially
- To contribute to the improvement of the conditions for learning and teaching (among other things through smaller groups, e.g. max. 20 participants in language courses specially set up by the SLI).
