Who can participate?

Everyone can participate in the language course (-G) at the SLI.

How much do the courses cost?

All courses indicated by a “(-G)” are subject to charges.
Course fees are based on the number of semester week hours ("Semester-Wochen-Stunden") - (SWS).
Additionally, there are different price levels. You can find a detailed overview of all course and test fees here: Course and test fees

Foreign students who receive financial aid from the MWK BaWü, DAAD or another non-profit institution can apply for a fee reduction. The applicant has to present proper certificates to the offices of the SLI one week after registering!

How can I register?

You can register for all courses online via „RESERVIX“. You can find the link in the course description of the course catalog.

If you have problems registering, you can read our step-by-step instruction.

How can I pay?

You can register online via invoice/prepayment. Immediately after registering you receive a registration confirmation via e-mail and you are registered to the course. The registration is binding.

Please transfer the course fee onto the bank account specified in the registration confirmation immediately. Please state the reference specified on the registration confirmation so we can match you payment.

You get a ticket with the course information via e-mail as soon as we receive the course fee. However, you do not need the ticket to participate in the course.

Please note that registration is binding independent from in-payment. Cancellations have to be made in written form! Please note our terms of cancellation!

How can I cancel a course registration?

Cancellation is possible within 7 days of registration without giving reasons. This rule only applies to registrations that have been made at least 2 weeks before the course starts. Later registrations are absolutely binding. In this case, you can only cancel your registration if your spot can be giving to a participant on the waiting list.

All cancellations have to be made in written form (e-mail: info@sli.uni-freiburg.de)

Please note that not paying or not participating in the course does not discharge you from your obligation to pay.

Please contact us if you realize that you cannot particpate in a course even after the cancellation period is over. We will try to help you out somehow!

Are there any deadlines?

Registration (Start of the online registration)

  • February, 1st - for courses in the summer semester
  • August, 1st - for courses in the winter semester

Please register at the latest 1 week before the courses start. In special cases registration is possible afterwards. However, courses are cancelled when they do not reach a minimum number of participants in the week before they start. In this case, fees already paid will be refunded.

Cancellation

  • After registering for a class you have one week to cancel you registration in writing. Your fees will either be refunded or put towards another course.
  • A refund after the course has already started is not possible!
  • The course fee is due even if you do not attend the course you have registered for! If you cannot attend the course, please let us know via e-mail or letter beforehand.

Rebooking

  • If you have booked a course you cannot attend we will try to find another course that fits for you. Please come at the latest after the 2nd session to the SLI office. (Universitätsstr. 5, daily between 10-13h) or contact us via Email (info@sli.uni-freiburg.de).
  • We recommend a grading test before registering in order to avoid wrong bookings.

What is my language level?

All courses are orientated towards the European Framework for Languages. The course’s respective language level can be found in the course description.

What if I do not know my language level?
